HERSONISSOS
Hersonissos is the largest and most famous hotel resort in Greece. It is located at Crete, an ancient island standing between Europe and Africa. Hersonissos was inhabitated during ancient years and more specifically during Hellenistic and Roman periods. Walking through the city you can see ancient ruins being exposed after recent excavations. Hersonissos was also famous for a big theater, which the city is now trying to restore. In the mainland historical monuments and landscapes of exceptional beauty await to be discovered.
The area forms a natural golf which protects the city's seashore from the north winds and waves of the Cretan Archipelago. The beaches, which have either white or brown sand, are accessible and safe for swimming during most of the summer days. The sea water is of the highest quality and is monitored daily in order to validate the blue flag trop standards.
Hersonissos is located about 25 kms east of Nikos Kazantzakis International Airport. It is strategically located on Crete's north shore, offering fast access to both to the east and the south of the island.
